This page presents our marginal plants for natural ponds, garden ponds and basins, sourced from the Aquiflor nursery in Nodebais. They line the banks, attract local wildlife and help maintain the water's balance.
How to choose your marginal plants?
- Height: use bulrushes and yellow flag iris for the background, and greater mullein, water mint and greater water-parsnip in the foreground.
- Flowering: yellow or pink iris, water primrose, marsh cinquefoil, lobelia, water arum or marsh arum will spread colour throughout the season.
- Depth: plant along the edge, in marshy areas or in shallow water, depending on the species.
- Proportion: aim for plants covering about 1/3 of the pond's surface.
